ABO?

I am curious about the future of ABO for IIS. While ABO is certainly fast, it is not very convenient. WMI seems to be the de facto management interface for Windows moving forward. Can someone offer some guidance on which interface, ABO or WMI, to leverage for large-scale enterprise infrastructure management automation?
I really like the speed of ABO, but I am thinking ahead to IIS 7 and its implications for a large low-level code base. WMI is one level of abstraction higher, but a bit slower, so if the convenience outweighs the speed concerns, I'd probably want to go with WMI.
Thoughts?
