Compression can be applied for dynamic as well as static content.

Regarding the switch being flooded with SSL traffic -- that's what multicast
would do.
Are you configuring all the equipment correctly?

Jeremy: I have Dell, Microsoft & Intel working on this issue. We have brand new intel servers with gigabit switches plugged into a Dell Gigabit Switch. NLB running in multicast igmp mode with all patches installed. We are not getting that many hits, but most transactions are over SSL. Performance is slowwww compared to original config running single IIS 5.0 box. Please help! A network packet sniffer reveals that all ports on the switch are getting flooded with SSL traffic. and we dont know what is causing this. It might be NLB. Which is why I was thinking about turning on app compression to reduce the number of bytes being sent out. Does it work for aspx pages? thanks!
