Hi
I've got XP Pro on my home PC on which I use IIS to develop websites,
which I then load up the the Internet.
The PC from Dell came with McAfee's software pre-loaded, which seems
really user-friendly, but it prevents running local websites
(localhost), so I can't do any development. I've just removed it and
IIS now works fine, but my PC is obviously very open to attack. Now
I've got XP's firewall, which is not that user friendly - it's blocked
my PDA synch'ing and I haven't yet found an easy way to permit access
through the firewall. On my last PC, I had Norton Internet Security
2004 but due to a similar problem I had the firewall permanently
disabled.
Can anyone recommend a security configuration that is compatible with
this situation? I just need to be relatively protected but be able to
run IIS. What is everyone else using??
Thanks
Sean
