Setup. 2000 active directory and IIS 6.0 on a stand alone server.
Clients are Windows XP, IE 6.0 and have enabled Integrated
Authentication.
It is already now that are authentication token for Kerberos is larger
then the maximum default 16kb, do to migration of 50 domains to a
single forest. We have added the OS registry key MaxTokenSize and
increased or Token accept up to 100KB. This has fixed most
authentication errors for Kerberos for standard file share, mailbox
access issues. The only thing that seems to be giving us a problem
still is Website that is setup for Integrated Authentication and or a
fixed domain account on Application Pool. We have created the create
SPN and that allowed 90% of the company to get in to the website. The
remaining users get Bad Request (header too long) error message on the
IE 6.0 Clients. I found the below google group question that pointed
to the below KB article that talks about how IIS 6.0/http.sys has a
matching registry key like the OS called MaxRequestBytes. We created 2
keys MaxRequestBytes and MaxFieldLength and set MaxFieldLength to max
65KB and MaxRequestBytes 300KB. We still have the same users getting
the error. Any help would be appreciated.
