You need to have Active Directory somewhere - the webserver itself does not
need to be a DC, but you must have AD. This is really fundamental, basic
stuff that you need to know. AD is where Exchange gets it's information
about users, distribution lists etc. In Exchange 5.5 exchange had it's own
internal directory. From Exchange 2000 onwards, it uses Windows Active
Directory.

Can I seriously suggest you get a consultant in (your local MS office can
probably point you to a list of MS Certified Partners in your area) to
advise you on what you need to get setup, and the best way of getting it
setup? This type of forum is probably not the best place to get this type of
information - it's more geared to solving individual problems.

Cheers
Ken
