I am also very new to IIS, but I see nobody else has offered a hand in the
last 8 hours, so maybe we can help one another, like the deaf helping the
blind and vice-versa. I see you turned off the ICF on all connections. Do
you have another software firewall ? I use Zone Alarm, and had to figure
out a way to open port 21. You might also have got by with just opening up
port 21 in ICF. Do you have a hardware firewall/router ? If so, is port 21
open or closed ? Realizing that I'm very new to IIS, what little I've
learned seems to indicate that, when accessing the web site locally or
within the LAN, it does not matter whether port 21 is open or closed,
because as you may already know, no communication is going in or out of the
gateway. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I am very new to IIS, but I have been using FrontPage for years. This is the
first time I am trying to let others in my company access a web site that I
am "hosting" on my own PC (XP Pro). I can access the site on my own PC and
on PCs connected to my LAN. I can not access the site from remote locations
(I have tried from a few different locations [all are XP Pro PCs]). when
using http it times out and when using https i get a message stating that
the connection has terminated unexpectedly and some date may have been
transferred.

For debugging, I now have my (dumb) DSL Modem connected directly into my PC.
I have also turned off the internet connection firewall on all my network
connections.

I tried telnetting from a remote PC and the screen goes blank using port
443, but times out using port 80.

IE reports "Cannot find server or DNS Error" when trying to access via HTTP

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
