1: Don't use a mapped drive. Use a UNC path instead. When
you log off the server, the mapped drive will be
disconnected.
2: You can delete the default one if you want and create
a new one. The default website is really no different
than any other website.

on a mapped drive. In other words how to install a web
application a directory(web apps virtual directory) on a
mapped drive. This is to avoid directory traversal
attacks, Microsoft suggeted to use a drive mapped and
install the web application on that drive.

needed to create a seperate web site to install a secure
web application?
