Ok what a pain, with the firewall switched off, the emails
are sent.
With the firewall switched on, they are not and I get an
error, but there is nothing else close to it, the only
errors I have gotten sinse all this began are as below:
(BABY is my small PC)
~Error details~
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: smtpsvc
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4000
Date: 21/04/2004
Time: 17:41:01
User: N/A
Computer: BABY
Description:
Message delivery to the remote domain 'ilopia.com' failed
for the following reason: The connection was dropped by
the remote host.
Data:
0000: d3 02 04 c0 Ó..À
~ends~
I am sure that I tried sending with the firewall off
before, obviously I didn't send mail correctly, but it was
working earlier this month with the firewall switched
on!?!!
Is there a way to configure a software firewall to let the
emails out? I get warnings that I have been attacked about
once every 10 minutes, so having it switched off isn't
safe, is it? The hardware firewall must be letting stuff
through.
But at least now you've helped to find the problem.
Kind regards
Toby
