1. Will is leave IIS running in the case of a hang situation?
(Experiments on my test box look like this is true -- IIS continues
after the log information is created -- which is what I need.)
Yes, the agent self doesn't perform any actions except write a log,
it will not kill any hang instances.
2. Will activating this ISAPI filter would have a
noticable/significant impact on performance? (This is for a shared
hosting situation with many virtual servers on a box.)
As I know, it only occupies little resource and will not affect
performance(without writting logs). I perfromed a very simple test:
compare the time-taken column of IIS log records for a single ASP
page, in the cases of with IISCHAgent filter loaded and without
IISCHAgent filter loaded, the results:
Crash Agent enabled:
4467
4567
4436
No Agent:
4767
4446
4527
Hang Agent enabled:
5008
4927
4557
At least, there isn't any obvious difference, all of the records are
in the reasonable range. So I think the filter's cost can be ignored
when the server is working normally.
Please update here if you have further issues. You are always welcome.
