Hello,

IIS suddenly stopped working. If I do http://localhost or
http://127.0.0.1 the internet explorer hangs forever. The only thing
that I did between today and the last time when I saw it working was
installing Microsoft Office and McAfee virus scan. Assuming that the
problem might be related to these installations, I removed Microsoft
Office and disabled McAfee. It still does not seem to work.

I ran the wfetch utility available on the microsoft site to see what's
the output. Here is what the log file looks like on doing a trace on
localhost:

resolve hostname "localhost"
WWWConnect::Connect("127.0.0.1","80")
source port: 1231

REQUEST: **************

TRACE / HTTP/1.1
Host: localhost
Accept: */*

RESPONSE: **************
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
Date: Mon, 09 Feb 2004 17:40:24 GMT
X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
Content-Type: message/http
Content-Length: 50
TRACE / HTTP/1.1
Host: localhost
Accept: */*

WWWConnect::Close("127.0.0.1","80")
closed source port: 1231

I do not see any error message in here. I checked the event viewer for
any error messages, however I do not see anything wrong there. The OS
used is Windows 2000 Server.

Please help!!!

Thanks,
Sameer
