Tris,

>From one Newbie to another...

I'm pretty much in the same boat; however, it sounds like
I'm a few weeks ahead so I'll tell you what I know. XP
Home does not support IIS but XP Pro does. IIS 5.1 is
what comes on the XP Pro CD and is installed as an
optional component. I've upgraded my new XP Home to Pro
(didn't know about the lack of support from Home at the
time) and currently have a post here myself as IIS is
down.

Hope you get informative replies...

Pat

extensions to my web so that I can direct messages from
feedback.htm to one of my email addresses and possibly a
data file as well. When I went to install these
extensions (I downloaded those for Front Page 2002 would
it be better to install a more recent version? I assume
my provider, Earthlink, uses the most recent extensions
though I also assume since I run Front Page 2002 this
wouldn't be an issue as I only need to "enable" my own
LAN, right?) I was told I needed to first install IIS
v4.0 or greater to my computer.

information I need to do this properly. Also, from what
I've been able to glean from perusing the Microsoft
support documentation online IIS seems to be aimed at the
NT platform, not XP.

matter I could change over.)

myself to a greater degree.
