Actually, this reader seems to have dropped that for some reason and I
can't seem to figure out where to set it. I am using Outlook Express at
the moment.

Tools | Options | Send tab, then under News Sending Format click Plain Text
Settings, then check the box that reads "Indent the original text with
(dropdown - choices are > | :) when replying or forwarding"
