I have IIs6.0 running with three different domain names. I understand IIS
has
an SMTP mail capabilities, but not as a POP3 server. What are people using
for their POP3 server if they do not have an Exchange Server?
Why is AV scanning of e-mail bad, and if so why do they do it? ... Reasons mentioned are about possible corruption of DBX files when ... I'm not sure I understand the message store risk,... Why do AV programs have this feature if it doesn't server a real purpose ... how would such a message be marked for deletion on the POP3 server?... Re: Exchange Server Spamming? ... I don't believe it is a reverse NDR attack as we use the pop3 connector - external e-mail is not delivered directly to our server.... Once it's been accepted, should there be a reason the mail can't be delivered, such as the non-existence of the recipient, an NDR must be generated and sent to the 'sender' of the original mail. ... Less than one percent of the SMTP connection attempts to my server actually name a valid recipient, the others are to obviously made-up names which are not expected to exist, in order to trigger an NDR. ... the POP3 server can refuse mail which is not for any of those accounts. ...
