Type 'help' and you will see a bunch.

You can use 'mget', 'mput' for upload/download file.

if this is not working in IE, it could be passive mode issue, try change IE
to active mode and test.

Hi Bernard,

This is what I got with FTP.EXE after I logged in with the user
credentials
and password:

230 User millie logged in.
ftp>

I'm not FTP expert, but I think FTP.EXE worked and I have to type some
commands to transfer files back and forth? Can you tell me what the
commands
are? Usually with Internet Explorer I just copy and paste the files.

Thank you,
Millie

Hello Bernard,

I apologize for the delay in replying. A user took the XP laptop on a
business trip and it has just returned.

Is FTP.exe the same thing as typing a URL with FTP:// in Internet
Explorer?
If not, I don't know how to use FTP.exe.

I launched Internet Explorer and then typed "FTP://<ftp server IP
address>.
I logged in with the same user account as I used on the W2K laptop. The
flashlight waved back and forth. Then the following error message was
displayed:

FTP Folder Error
An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you
have
permission to access that folder.
Details:
The operation timed out.

I have the laptop now and can try other things if needed.

Thank you,
Millie

Hello,

I created an FTP Server using IIS on our Windows 2003 Server Web
Edition.
I
can use a Windows 2000 computer to login to the FTP server and
create
folders
and files. The FTP works great.

However, I can't use a Windows XP computer to login to the FTP
Server.
After
I type my username and password and press Enter, all I see is the
flashlight
waving back and forth. Sometimes, I get the login box again.

Does anyone know why I can't use Windows XP to login the FTP server?

Thank you for your help.

Millie
