I am using Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The ftp service is set to a
specific base folder for example c:\inetpub\ftproot. On another machine
(Win2k or XP) I run cmd and then do "ftp machinename" and I tested using
Internet Explorer 6.0. It puts me in c:\inetpub\ftproot. If I put a folder
named "Default" in ftproot I end up there instead. If I rename that folder
I end back up in ftproot. There is no user with a name of "Default" on the
system.

Mmm.. interesting.be
so you login as anonymous, you can redirect to a subfolder named 'default'
under d:\ftpbase\
what ftp client software you use? could be the app setting, etc
does it happen if you connect via ftp.exe ?

Looking in Local Users and Groups (Manage My Computer) I do not have a
user
named "Default". I checked that first thing. If there is one it must
ishidden somehow. Can there be a "hidden" Default user? This just sounds
like unexpected behaviour to me.

Windows 2000 (IIS 5.0) and Windows XP. I am setting up my default
Isite
on two machines. One running Win2k the other WinXP. We have an
established
folder structure where our base ftp folder (ftpbase for discussion
sake)
has
sub-folders for each department. One of the folders happens to be
named
"Default". This seems to cause a problem for the ftp service. When
Iftp
folderas an anomymous user to the machines, I get put into the "Default"
instead of ftpbase. Is this by design or a leftover bit of code? If
rename the "Default" folder I get put into ftpbase like I expect. I
prefer
not to change the application software that performs the ftp.
TIA
