Yes, it is a built-in FTP service of IIS 5.0 on Win2K.
Our FTP clients are of various nature, some are Windows-based EXEs, some are
batches, the platforms are both Windows and Linux. I know that Windows
clients do not use Explorer's remote computers in any way - it's a pure FTP
connection, no questions. My suspicion is that FTP service *buffers* the
files it receives in memory some way or the other and sometimes fails to
flush them to disk properly. Another interesting observation is that very
same FTP service reports successful transfer to the client (we have detailed
logs)!
