Chances are nobody else will ever have this exact problem, but the
solution is painfully simple: Trigger a navigation that won't do
anything but fire BeforeNavigate2. An example of that would be
javascript:void('some-string-to-identify-the-navigation-by').

Crappy problem, appropriate solution.
