Yes, I noticed it. I guess my next question is, given that you know
what it is that I am trying to do, how can I best accomplish the end
objective?
You can register a temporary APP for HTTP and HTTPS protocols. Isn't
that what we have started with?
What is difference between temporary and permanent?
A permanent APP is registered in the registry, and affects every
application that uses UrlMon to perform requests over this protocol. A
temporary APP is registered within a single process with
IInternetSession::RegisterNamespace, and affects all UrlMon requests for
this protocol in this process.
I see. I guess this is why, in your PassThrough example, you hosted
the web browser control inside your EXE instead of simply registering
the APP.
So..can one then conclude that there is no (trivial) way to achieve
the effect of intercepting URL processing on a more permanent basis?
I realize if Microsoft allowed this, it would facilitate all kinds of
malicious attacks, but it would be very useful for us to have this
capability, whether the method is orthodox or not.
