hyperlink trapped in local domain

Hi,
I created a web page on localhost
i type localhost/index.html will get me into the start page
However, when I click on one of hyperlinks to Yahoo Google etc, it becomes
http://localhost/hk.yahoo.com
I checked the source code of the page, but it did not seem to be a bad
link....
Please help.
