I believe we have five public IP addresses. The DSL modem is using
one,
Then it is not a modem. Modems are Layer2 and don't have IP#s. It is
probably a broadband "router" running in "bridged mode" and may have a
"modem" built into it (assuming there is only one piece of hardware). But
it doesn't matter,..it's just an FYI.
and the ISA Server side of the server is using another. You're
talking to a programmer here, not a network administrator. But I'm
learning.
No problem, I like to teach, that's why my posts sometime get so long.
You're saying I can use a small switch after my DSL modem and connect
the server into one port and the Sonicwall into another and give them
each their own IP address?
Most likely, yes. It kind of depends on your DSL equipment,...but
generally,..yes.
So I would need another server running my
Nova program and that server would use the Sonicwall as the default
gateway?
It could be running on any server as long as it is not on the ISA box.
I have another server, but it has Windows 2000 Server on it.
Is it advisable to run 2000 on a second server when the domain
controller is 2003?
You can run NT4, Windows3.1, Win95, WIn98, Linux, and DOS on the network if
you want to. But Win2000 or newer is Active Directory compatible.
