Re: ISA2006 as Web Proxy (newbie)

Hi All...

I am trying to do the same (As Serge)
Could you please share how to configure this ISA2006 as a webproxy?
A step by step info would be highly appreciated.
Thanks you....

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the pointer. It helped me solve my problem.
Well, it took me some time to realize I had to add an access rule to let web
proxy clients access the Internet but that's another story. I have it up and
running now.

Thanks again.

There's an ISA Server 2004 doc that will help (even though you're using
ISA Server 2006): "Configuring ISA Server 2004 on a Computer with a Single
Network Adapter", at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2004/plan/single_adapter.mspx

Not sure why you'd want chaining - read more about it in Chaining Concepts
in ISA Server 2006
(http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2006/chaining.mspx).

Env.: W2K3 + ISA2006 standard
Warning: Total ISA newbie ahead :-)

Hi All,

In order to test if/how our client-side and server-side software works
through an ISA proxy (and firewall? why not!), I'm asked to setup an ISA
server as Web Proxy (in a Virtual PC VM).
I used the "Single Network Adapter" template. The idea is that internal
computers should access the web via this proxy (just plain ultra basic
need!)

What do I do next to setup the proxy? "Web chaining" looks like something
I might want. But where do I declare/configure things such as proxy port#
or authentication?
Does ISA server require client-side installation (I guess/hope not)?

My current feeling is that this piece of software can do basically
everything but I just can't find out to get started with the simplest set
up ever :-(

Any HOWTO-style pointer would be very appreciated.

TIA,

Serge
