The WPAD autodetection method is an Industry Standard,..it is not something
Microsoft did. It functions equally with any OS or browser if that OS and
brower follow proper standards.
The only thing the Mac and Linux machines won't do is automatically
authenticate the user *after* the proxy is choosen because that require
Windows Integrated Authentication which thos OS's cannot do. If the
browser's proxy settings have a place to supply credentials then that "may"
work. If your proxy rules allow Anonymous Access then none of
authentication is relevant.

Hi,
We consider using ISA as authentication portal for internet access and
since we have Mac and Linux users in addition to windows I assume that we
need to manually enter the http address in each workstation's browser for
a centralized wpad.dat file with the proxy script.
However after having received internet access through ISA this way, do the
clients have to manually enter proxy addresses for every service they need
(tfp, msn messenger, p2p etc..) or will their IP be granted transparent
access once they have authenticated through http...?
Which options do we have as of little or no client configuration for
clients (windows, macs and linux) when switching between our ISA
environment and at home with no proxy...?
Thanks a lot for comments and tips
