ISA does not deal overly well with dialup.
My suggestion, and forgive me Philipp, is to place a SOHO NAT box between
the modem and ISA and have the NAT box handle the maintaining of the
connection. Add a port forwarding rule to the NAT box to forward
EVERYTHING to ISA.

@q3g2000prf.googlegroups.com:
Hi All,
I have an ISA 2006 box which uses a dial up (PPP) connection
to the internet ica an ADSL modem with a bridged connection (so the
external IP can be on the ISA)
This has all been working funky for a couple of years (ISA 2004 before
2006) by using the general | specify dial up connections |
automatically dial this connection | make it "external" etc etc....
Today, it just stopped working!
When trying to dial the connection manually it just sits at
"connecting to ISPNAME" until it times out, the logs show nothing.
The ADSL modem itself has sync and when connecting to another machine
to test, it can connect fine.
The only changes that have been made are a couple of windows updates
that applied early this week, and have since been removed.
The RAS logging and event log show nothing apart from the helpful
"Connection <connection name> failed to connect"
Im at a bit of a loss to determine what is causing this, basic things
such as stopping all isa services, re-creating the connection etc have
not enabled me to connect, but again, i can connect fine from any
other box using exactly the same modem and same settings..... im
fairly confident its an ISA related thing.
any ideas much appreciated
.
