Perfect. But strangely the Compress option is greyed out for me. And
yes we are using NTFS file system.
I can compress individual files in the NTFS ISALogs folder, but I would
obviously prefer to have ISA make decisions about compression.

Hi Will,
yes of course this is possible, depending on the ISA Version. For ISA 2004
you find the settings
under Monitoring - Logging -Tasks - Configure [Web Proxy| Firewall]
Logging - Options.
Here you can define Logging Options:
Store the log file in
ISALogs folder. Specifies that log files will be saved to the default log
file directory in the default ISA Server installation directory.
This folder. Specifies the location that will be used to save the log
files. To search for a folder, click Browse.
Log file storage limits control the amount of space on the disk that can
be
used for log files.
Limit total log file size
Specifies how many gigabytes (GB) of disk space that the log files can
use. Each log file is limited to 2 GB. When a log file reaches 2 GB, a new
file is automatically created. When the total log file size reaches its
limit, it is maintained according to the selected method.
Maintain free disk space
Specifies the minimum amount of disk space that must kept free. When the
amount free disk space reaches the limit, it is maintained according to
the
selected method.
Maintain log storage limits by
Deleting older log files as necessary. Specifies that when the storage
limits are met, older files will be deleted as newer files are saved.
Discarding new log entries. Specifies that when the storage limits are
met, new entries will not be saved until the limits are changed, or old
files are deleted.
Delete log files older than
Determines how long log files will be stored before they are
automatically
deleted. To delete old files from the log file storage, decrease this
number.
Compress Log Files
Specifies if the log files should be compressed to reduce the disk space
required. This option is only available for logs stored on NTFS
partitions.

Is there any setting that will allow me to limit the collection oflogfiles,
either by date of the oldest file, or overall file system space allocatedthe
for logs regardless of date?
Is there any reason to not keep the entire ISA Logs folder compressed on
NTFS file system?
