What you mean by this? Which type of connection you configured in
VMWare (NAT, bridged or host-only)?

The telnet from ISA works, the telnet from the VmWare machiune bonded to the
local nic, does not (ultimately telnet returns could not open connection to the
host, on port 25: connect failed.
Can you ping that host?

Considering trying the firewall client. This VmWare machine is an Exchange
2003 Server running on Windows 2003.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't install the firewall client on an Exchange
2003 box?
There is no reason. I think default firewall client configuration will
not do anything with Exchange connections (also FWC by default doesn't
work with telnet).

Nick - I'm using a bridged connection.

I tried moving the vmWare client to another box, it works perfectly.

However, I need it to work where it is.

When I ping to the outside world from the client while located on the ISA box,
the 1st of 4 generally gets thru, and the next 3 get eaten (timeed out).

My guess is that this is also happening when I try to telnet out to port 25, the
1st part of it makes it (which I see in ISA's monitoring), but the rest of the
telnet session gets eaten.

So, my problem boils down to finding how to stop commands initiated from the
client from getting eaten (as the POP3 and SMTP publishing rules work fine for
commands coming into the vmWare client.
