Firewall Client Extremely Chatty

When enabling the firewall client with ISA Server 2004, we noticed that it
is incredibly chatty. There are constant UDP conversations from the client
to the ISA Server 2004, even during periods of no network activity. Is
this overhead required just to establish some kind of heartbeat between the
client and server?
The other thing I noticed is that you lose all ability from the client to
see where the destination is for the network traffic originating on the
client. Is there any application that would help to see the TCP and UDP
destinations that are being tunnelled through the fiewall client? It
would make it much easier to debug situations if you didn't have to run from
the client to the firewall console back and forth.
