Re: Client DNS problem

Having all these bits on a single box is a fully support option - Small
Business Server is just this!
As to multihoming - this no longer applies with Windows Server 2003
(you will note the KB articles are for W2K only)

Anyways back to my problem....

Get ISA off the DC.
Get the second Nic out of the DC.

ISA should never be on a DC.
It will turn the AD/DC/DNS interactivity between the DC and the LAN into a
mess.

DCs should never be multi-homed

I have a very simple "out of the box" ISA 2006 configuration.

ISA is configured to sit between a couple of workstations and an
internet connection. The same server is also a domain controller and
DNS server.

From the client if I do a DNS query on any internal host the DNS server
responds as expected.
If I try a query against an external hostname I get nothing back. (eg:
ping www.microsoft.com).
Executing the same command from the ISA server console is successful.

I've looked at the ISA logging bits but there is nothing obvious.

Other than this everything else appears to work as expected.

Any clues as to what is going on?

Thanks

David
