The database is only accessible thru a vpn - it is customer controlled so I
can only connect in the way they prescribe. I was using Disable=0 which was
my problem.

with the parameter (Disable=1) you can deny this application using the fwc
to connect to the inet.
but can't you connect your database with a local fqdn
(sql.company.local)?? than your fwc knows, that he doesn't have to relay
the application-request to your local isa-firwall-service.

I figured it out.

I had a customer today request that we be able to vpn from our internal
network to his external network and then use a 32bit application to
access an sql database at his network, thru the vpn. No issue with making
the vpn connection however unable to then use the 32bit app to connect to
his sql database unless I disabled the local fwc. The local workstation
uses both the web proxy and the fwc. I assume the issue is that the fwc
is intercepting the communication and then tries to send the client app
out to the internet instead of thru the vpn connection. The two possible
solutions I began trying were...
Configure a fwc application exception within the Isa Firewall for the 32
bit app or
Configure an application.ini file on the local workstation with an
exception (Disable=0) for the 32 bit app.
I was not successful with my first solution and have not tried the
application.ini solution yet. Any thoughts on this problem?
