It isn't as bad as you are interpreting it.
As far as the reverse proxy would better fullfil my purposes if I could
point to servers w/o having to have them in the same location. I'm unsure
as to why a translation table can't be defined pointing to ip addresses.
Why a firewall between the two shouldn't matter, it is only communication.
I could stick 20 firewalls back to back to back and as long as the routes
and policies are setup they will all work. The way the reverse web proxy
works it has to have the published servers define their gatewqay as the ISA
server (I believe that is how it works) this is the limitation in my eyes.

I believe I will attempt to go via a side by side firewall but this (In
my
mind) defeats the purpose of only wanting ISA to be a reverse web proxy
in
my design attempt.
No it does not, defeat the purpose. It is exactly what would be expected
to
have to do to accomplish this. Web Publishig requires two Nics,..one on
the
Public side and one on the private side.
You *real* problem is the "firewall folks" who refuse to do their job. It
is
their job to do this using the firewalls when it is required. They are not
"gods" and they don't run the company (I wouldn't think),...they have
bosses,..somewhere,...find their bosses. Make them do their jobs. I am a
one-man IT Dept here, I run it all,...but if it is decided that the
company
wants something put into place,..it is my job to do it,...whether I like
it
or not.
