Re: Rule Settings - Users tab

Considering I am new, if I make the wrong change, it takes down my network.
I am trying to be careful and still get the job done. It wasn't my choice to
have this server impletmented. I'm not trying to get ignored, but as you can
see below, I DID some trial and error and it's not working the way it makes
sense to me that it should work. So, in turn, I ask the newsgroup to see if
it is a minor detail that I have missed. The fact alone that my network is
now being monitored and sites are being restricted, has been a great
learning experience for me. However, I know I still have a lot to learn, but
to iron out these "basic" kinks, seems to me that it would be something the
"enthusiasts" would care to help me with. I haven't been rude to anyone. And
besides a few other posts, I have been one of the only people bringing up
any issues. Therefore, it's not like I am taking up valuable resources that
could be helping someone else in here out. I have helped many people on
other newsgroups with the smallest questions many times. Not because I am
doing their job, but because I am an outsider, looking in, and maybe I know
exactly what they have missed. A little help goes a long way, not the note
below. Thank you for your help thus far.

Rod.

Hey Rod, it seems to me you are rather new to ISA since you're asking
"basic" questions. Apparently you decided to go for the easy way out -
asking all these questions within the newsgroup, when some simple research
and testing you did on your own would have yielded the answers in no time.
You are probably at the 5th or 6th post today, to me it looks like for
every single task you face, you create another thread.

Keep in mind that here on the NG we are just ISA enthusiasts trying to
help other people, not do their jobs or lay it all down on the table for
them. Research on your own is warranted and expected, if you ever want to
reach the point where you can truly understand what's going on with ISA.

That being said, you may want to conserve your posts for meaningful things
or significant issues, otherwise you risk getting people to ignore your
posts.

Ok, so I set my allow rule to apply to "domain users". I don't see an
"authenticated users" when I go to add a user or group. Once I did that,
I took out the "all users" and tried to access google. It popped up and
asked me for a username and pw again. Once I entered my domain
credentials, it took me to my access denied page. as I said, I did this
on my allow rule which will basically allow you to get to any site that i
didn't define in the deny rule that runs 1st. My allow rule is 2nd.

as "anonymous", which means you never get any "username". Stop using
"All
Users" for anything you do, unless you specifically don't care to know
who
the user is.

If you want to tell it to effect "everybody" and yet still give user
account
information, try using the "Authenticated Users" Group that is in Active
Directory instead of "All Users". The "All Users" is just an internal
thing within ISA.
