ISA issues accessing a sharepoint

I am having issues with clients computers accessing a local sharepoint
site due to an ISA error. When trying to connect, the following error
comes up;
10060 - Connection timeout
Internet Security and Acceleration Server

Technical Information (for support personnel)
Background:
The gateway could not receive a timely response from the Web site you
are trying to access. This might indicate that the network is
congested, or that the Web site is experiencing technical difficulties.
If I uncheck the Bypasss proxy server for local addresses box, the
clients can connect straight away, but this is not an option, as that
needs to remain checked. I have also discovered that if I try to
connect to the site from the ISA server, with the proxy server set as
"localhost:8080" it can also connect. The problem is that even with
the proxy server set as the ISA server with the same port number on the
client machines it will still not connect.
Does anyone else have any ideas of what else I can try?
