Lots of file sharing programs. For example, an ED2K (Edonkey/Emule) client
requires an incoming connection on a fixed port after establishing the
initial session to a hub, otherwise it will only connect to the P2P network
in "low-ID" mode which has limited capabilities compared to the fully
featured "high-ID" mode that is being used when an incoming channel is
available.
Important to note that the "secondary connection" feature as implemented in
ISA (also called "port triggering" in hardware routers - Linksys, Netgear
etc) is different from a server publishing session/rule as follows:
-server publishing is active at all times whereas a secondary connection
only becomes active in ISA after the primary protocol is triggered from a
client
-server publishing, given it's "permanent" nature, requires a "fixed", known
IP address for the published server, whereas secondary connections are
dynamic and are opened as required to serve any clients on the "internal"
side of ISA, regardless of IP.
