Cannot access LAN computers when connecting from externally via VPN.

Hi all,

A strange one.

Infrastructure
=========
Small Business Server 2000, SP4 + patches
with ISA Server 2000, SP2, FP1
Internal NIC is 192.168.1.43 (don't ask...)
External NIC is 192.168.0.2
VPN IP range is 172.16.2.1 to 172.16.2.10
This range is in the LAT table
Router is a Netgear DG834, with TCP/1723 forwarded to 192.168.0.2
Adapter binding is internal then external, as per kb320697

I have configured our VPN (RRAS) following the instructions at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=320697

I can successfully connect to the VPN, and I'm assigned 172.16.2.x
address. This is all fine.

I can successfully ping 192.168.0.2 (external NIC) and 192.168.1.43
(internal NIC). No issues here, and the connection is stable.

Routing is enabled on RRAS.

HOWEVER

I cannot ping or access any of the LAN machines on the far side of the
VPN, e.g. 192.168.1.45, with the exception of the server itself.

My own IP is 10.1.15.x so I know it's not a local issue. And the fact
that I can connect to the VPN suggests it's not a routing issue.

Any ideas? I just cannot access the "local" (internal) machines at
all, with the sole exception of the server itself. The internal
clients are XP SP2, but ICMP traffic is enabled.

This is driving me nuts :-)

Many thanks in advance,

Jim
