Philip -
Thanks very much for all the information - you've been extremely helpful.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no way to change the port (8443) in the
software: it's extremely frustrating! So, I had to open up another port
through the proxy server, as the last link explains. Whilst ISA 2000 doesn't
expose a method to add that the proxy port details; I examined the binary
data in the registry keys, and worked out what should go there. So now my
software can quite happily talk to its destination server.
You'll have to forgive my ignorance, but it seems a bit odd that I should
have to use the Proxy Server at all. None of the client machines on the
network use the proxy server (a policy instituted because a number of them
are laptops, and when used outside the office, this effectively renders them
useless to non-technical users). However, the server seems unable to make
HTTP connections to the internet (NIC #1), but can make HTTP connections to
our intranet machines (NIC #2). Yet, this can't be a routing issue, since
other protocols like FTP and Telnet seem to work fine on the internet.
