Hi Guillaume,

In MPS Report, I found the following system event:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 41
Date: 1/18/2005
Time: 6:13:20 PM
User: N/A
Computer: GT-ISAFW
Description:
The CPUs in this multiprocessor system are not all the same revision level.
To use all processors the operating system restricts itself to the
features of the least capable processor in the system. Should problems
occur with this system, contact the CPU manufacturer to see if this mix of
processors is supported.

Based on this information, if we do not use the same processors on the
multiprocessors machine, Windows will not be stable and system will hang.
This symptom is very similar with what you mentioned.

As you've mentioned that you have fixed the ISA error 11001. Besides
11001, I didn't find any other errors regarding the ISA.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: EventLog
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6008
Date: 1/18/2005
Time: 6:13:33 PM
User: N/A
Computer: GT-ISAFW
Description:
The previous system shutdown at 7:36:15 PM on 1/17/2005 was unexpected.

So, I think the Windows 2000 is running in an unstable situation. It is
recommended that you contact the OEM (Orginal Equipment Manufacturer) for
specific recommendations on operating in a mixed stepping environment.

We need to confirm if you system hung and if you have to reboot the machine
to fix it. If it is, the problem may not be caused by ISA since the
machine hung. You may need to contact PSS to debug on this issue.

Sincerely,
Carsyn Gu

| To update the case.
| I get rid of the Event 11001 by adding an exception in
| client set for the server publishing rules.
|
| But i still have the same problem, the server crashed at
| about 2h00 PM this afternoon and here are somes things i
| have noticed.
|
| -I cannot remotely connect to the server, or access the
| hard disk
| -The server is still pinging and from their end telus guys
| tell me that the screen seems to be frozen.
| -I can still ping the net for a while (one or two minutes)
| but i cannot see webpage then i lost the DNS resolution
| but IP from google.ca was still pinging until the telus
| tech hit the reset button.
|
| It's really sound to me like if a process was taking all
| available ressource but i can't find wich one....
|
| Help with that will really be appreciated, the crash seems
| to happen more and more often...
|
| thanks.
