Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server includes several application filters which are automatically installed
when you install ISA Server as Firewall mode or integrated mode. The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) filter is an application
filter that intercepts all SMTP traffic that arrives on port 25 of the ISA Server computer. The filter accepts the traffic, inspects it,
and passes it on only if it the rules allow it.

Since the SMTP filter is an application extension which works as part of firewall service, it can only be installed and configured in
Firewall mode or integrated mode. If only 1 NIC is installed, the firewall service could not be installed by design, neither the SMTP
filter and other application extention. Thanks for your understanding.
