Microsoft's interpretation of Stateful Packet Inspection
is to leave those high ports closed by default and
dynamically open only as long as necessary for that
particular session.
You might consider what kind of traffic you're creating.
If like most every other new application today you
implement XML/Web Services you should be using the
standard web ports.
And, if you choose any other protocol you should probably
consider your reasons.
