Hi,
I have an ISA box that is having regular firewall service crashes:
Eventlog shows EventID 7031 from the Service Control Manager
The Microsoft Firewall service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 7
time(s).
I have reinstalled and reconfigured, but this issue continues to arise,
sadly there is no regular pattern to it, it started to look like a two
hourly thing, but it seems to do fairly erratically.
I have several boxes in different locations that are configured in much the
same way, this is the only one that seems to be conking out on a regular
basis.
Is there any way to get more information as to why it is crashing?
I have gone through the configuration with a fine tooth comb, and cannt find
anything that might be causing such behaviour.
It would of course be nice if it could say something useful like Oops the
firewall crashed because a malformed packet was received, or the antivirus
mucked with logs etc etc, but it doesn't.
Basically, it crashes, the recovery process takes place, and it runs until
next crash ad infinitum.
The last time I had this problem (different box, different life) I had to
completely reinstall ISA, this one I would rather not have to do just yet if
there is something else to try.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
Phill
