I am trying to set up a connection to the office using vpn on a xp home
edition OP at home. I am using IE7 and whem i use the connection wizard it
keeps creating a connection as a dial up. I have tried everything I can
thik of including disabling my modem. Nothing seems to work. anybody have
any ideas?

VPN *is* a Dialup technology.

So it would be a Dial up connection you are creating. The differences are:
1. Uses an IP# in place of the Phone Number
2. Uses PPTP or L2TP in place of PPP
3. Uses a virtual (software) VPN Adapter in place of a phone modem.

All the principles of how dial up behaves still apply.
