Getting Error 800 or 633

I've got a Win XP Pro laptop that I changed hard drives in and now I'm
unable to establish a VPN connection. The server I'm connecting to is at
work and my laptop is connected through my network at home. All the other
computers in my home network have no problem connecting. The laptop is
connected via wireless to an Airlink+ wireless hub. The Airlink wireless hub
is connected to an SMC Barricade bridge. Most of the computers in my
network are connected to the SMC except for one Win2000 desktop which is
connected to one of the 4 ports on the Airlink.

I'm not 100% sure that it was the hard drive replacement in the laptop but
it's my best guess. What's happening is the VPN connections that I had
defined before the HD replacement go directly to an error code 800 when I
try to use them. I tried creating new VPN definitions and they don't create
the same way. They seem to want to use a modem instead of the
network/Internet. When I try to use the new setup, I get an error code 633
immediatly. Everything else in the laptop seems to be working just fine. I
have full internet access, I can use the Remote Console to operate other
computers, I'm up to date with all the Microsoft patches, too.

I've tried searching for what programs/settings are involved with the VPN
service but everything I've found seems to make the assumption that the
software is installed and operating correctly on the client system. Anybody
have any ideas of what I might try? Other than starting from scratch and
formatting the hard disk? I went through a lot of grief to not have to do
that in the HD swap.

Thanks,
Bob
