The Radius client setting is needed when you are using a different IAS
server(different from RRAS server) to authenticate the auth requests. In
such cases, we add the RRAS VPN server as the RADIUS client on the IAS
server. The IAS server authneticates only requests from machines added as
RADIUS client.
VPN Client --> RRAS server --> IAS server
[Radius client = RRAS
server]

Hello all,
I just setup my 2003 Server as a VPN Server and configured all VPN clients
correctly finally. I was having trouble getting the connection from the
client to the server because i didnt go into IAS and Add a radius client.
I kept on getting the message that i couldnt authenticate with IAS. After
i went into IAS and click on "Add New Radius Client" and enterd the IP
address of IAS server i was finally able to get on. When i think about
radius client i think about a client computer accessing the RAS VPN
server. I'm confused as to what "Radius Client" means... can someone clear
this up for me? Thanks
.
