Re: VPN Ports

What type of VPN client are you using (L2TP or PPTP)?
If you are using PPTP, the following port/protocol are required TCP port
1723 and IP Protocol 47 (IP Protocol 47 also know as Generic Route
Encapsulation (GRE)). PPTP use TCP port 1723 for connection and IP protocol
47 to transfer data.

If you are using L2TP, the following port/protocol are required UDP
500(isakmp) and 4500. L2TP also use IP Protocol 50 for data.

This link will give you full detail.

hope this helps!

I have the necessary ports open on our ISA box for VPN access. I have
clients
that work for the school district. Their site uses Secure Computing-
(sidewinder firewall) for outbound traffic. What ports do I need open on
this
firewall for ISA VPN to be successful? I already had them open up UDP 1701
and 500 in both directions. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks,

-Michael
