Okay, so I'm really, really cheap. Plus, I'll never need more than this...

I've got a main office, and 2 branch offices. All computers have Windows
XP Pro. I've got a 3 computer network (wired into a wireless router) in the
main office where one of the 3 has all the data, but no "server" software.
I have one computer in each branch office. I'll soon have static IP dsl
going into each office, and when that happens I'll pop the computer in each
of the branch offices into a wireless router as well (there's one
application I'm going to be running that would require the wireless router
along with a tablet computer that will roam between the 3 offices with me).

Can I set up a VPN connection between my branch offices and my main office
so that each office, all the time, can have access to the main office's
programs and data? I've read it should be theoretically possible. Is it
doable though. I'm not interested in 'server software', etc...just "keep it
simple, stupid" is my motto. But I know I need to be realistic as far as
    security is concerned also.

If it's doable, HOW do I do it? Can I use vpn passthrough routers? Should
the routers be "VPN Routers". Can Windows XP Pro REALLY handle this, or am
I shooting too high for just using XP Pro and no server stuff?

    TIA
    ron
