I get the error in shown in the subject when trying to connect with VPN to
Server2003 RRAS/ISA2000 from a Server 2000 client (Remote Access VPN). I am
using a DoD Interface in RRAS on the 2000 box to dial from and not the
regular old DUN. This is because when if finally works right it will be set
to "persistant connection" to keep it up 24/7 and won't have any "humans"
babysitting it. This Serv2000 box is not usied as a "VPN Router", it is
merely following the Remote Access VPN model with it being the role of a VPN
Client.
This same 2000 box works fine when VPN dialing into an old NT4/RRAS/Proxy
and also works fine doing the same into a Watchgaurd1000 Firewall that can
act as a VPN Server. The problem only happens when dialing into the
Server2003/ISA2000 box.
The VPN/RRAS was setup using the VPN Wizard in ISA, ...as it should be,..
RRAS was not independently configured.
Nothing I found on MS's site gave any indication what to do other than it
just regurgitated what the error already said. One independent article I
read said to disable the Multi-Link stuff on the Client end,...which I
did,...which did not help.
