On your client where you can access the internet, before establishing the
VPN connection
You need to uncheck the option "Use default gateway on remote network".

Right click on the VPN Connectiod
Select Properties
Go to Network tab
Click on TCP/IP->Properties
Select Advanced tab
Uncheck "Use default gateway on Remote Network".

Now connect to the VPN Server.
