Aaron,

The password prompting happens 'cuz the access to the share needs to be
granted to the user who you login as.
It does not matter what login you use for your VPN connections.

Note: if you have a local account with the same name & password as the VPN
account, then you can access the shares without getting prompted for the
password.

For example, if your vpn account is SomeDomain\VpnUser with mypass as
password, then create a local account myworkstation\VpnUser with mypass as
password. Now if you login as myworkstation\vpnuser and VPN to your office,
then your shares can be accessed without getting prompted for password.
