publishing exchange rpc over http

Hi,
Tearing my hair out over this. I have published OWA thru my ISA server. It
works flawlessly. I am now trying to publish rpc over https so that users
can use outlook ouside the office. Outlook is configured correctly, it
connects to my exchange mailserver using rpc over https, I can see this when
I run
outlook /rpcdiag
Then I take my PC out of the office and it doesn't work. I have added
/RPC/* to my paths on my OWA rule which seems to be all I'm supposed to have
to do on the ISA server, but to no avail, when I start up outlook, it just
keeps asking for my password, over and over. if I try to the following URL
https://mail.domain.com/rpc
same thing just keeps asking for my password.
I don't have the users must authenticate check box checked, I am using a
proper Certificate, no problems with that. Does anyone have any ideas on why
OWA works but rpc over https doesn't like the authentication? Auth is set to
Basic Authentication in outlook. If I do check the all users must
authenticate box on the listner and check the Basic authentication box, then
OWA stops working :-(
Any help ideas anything would help, I've been trying to get this working for
so long now I'm asking strangers on the street if they know anything about
rpc over https... and getting strange looks.
