Server : Windows 2003 + IIS 6 + Frontpage Server Extensions 2002
A number of Intranet users can publish directly to their site or in
some cases through an ISA proxy server.
There is one large site active ( 70 others will follow ) that is
monitored with AWSTATS ( analysis of web log file ). That is how I
discovered that daily there are thousands of lines similar to this one
in the log file :
"2004-09-08 07:42:18 W3SVC1170366094 ISSRVPRDWEB01 10.120.13.76 POST
/_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.dll - 80 - 10.120.90.37 HTTP/1.0
MSFrontPage/4.0 - - dghr.mil.intra 200 5 0 1080 425 15"
It is always the 'author.dll' that is mentioned. Sometimes it comes
from workstations (through a proxy) that do not even have Frontpage
client installed !!!
This is slowing down the server and corrupting the stats.
Anyone seen this before ?
Thanks in advance.
Yves.
