Re: Force All Browsers To Use A Proxy

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

The only way you can guarantee that all browsers will be forced through the
proxy is to configure the network so that they have no choice.
Otherwise, you're stuck with trying to manage computers over which you have
no real control.
You should be able to configure your content-filtering mechanism for
exceptions.
This is where you'd place your teachers and staff...

Hi,

I work in a school system and we need to make it so all browsers go
through our proxy, for filtering. By default we install IE7 and configure
it
to go through our ISA server using group policy on all of the computers.
The
kids have started downloading FireFox to bypass the filter. We don't force
all Internet traffic to go through our proxy because the administrators,
teachers and nurses sometimes need something that would be restricted.
We're
considering installing FireFox and using GP to proxy it, but we figure
they'll go to Opera, Netscape, etc. at that point. Is there anyway we can
set it up to proxy all of the http traffic on certain subnets using GP?
We're considering setting up routers to handle it all, leaving certain
subnets off, but it would be better, and cheaper, if we can do it through
subnets, or even better yet through users groups.

Thanks,

tj
