If you dont have a default gateway on the internal nic, then i cant get to
the box from any other subnet.. i think i would have to add a static route
to the box.. but i'm not sure what route i would need to add..
My config looks like this.
Server subnet 10.1.1.x
Client subnets 10.20.0.0, 10.30.0.0 and 10.40.0.0
Thanks for the help.

In all scenarios.
A Default Gateway is a *global* thing for the entire machine. The fact
that
the GUI has a place on every interface to add one is meaningless and needs
to be ignored. In fact I consider it a flaw in the GUI,...the GUI should
(IMO) "grey out" that option on all other Nics when one Nic aready has the
DFG item populated. At this point what is done is that Windows will give
you a pop-up alert telling you that you are not supposed to have multiple
DFGs,...but then it still lets you do it.
This is not the same thing as having multiple DGFs on the same Nic in the
same subnet. These are for Dead Gateway Detection. DGD is "clunky" and
doesn't work as people often expect and (IMO) is not a good solution for
anything.

is that the case in every scenario? (except a single NIC config)http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/8/918ed2d3-71d0-40ed-8e6d-fd6eeb6cfa07/ts_rules.doc
